I woke up this morning, looking forward to my birthday weekend and feeling really grateful for my life. Sure, life is stressful yet I am choosing to find pleasure in all that is amazing in my life. My husband, friends, family, having a career that I love, inspiring others, building a house… the list goes on.
Being grateful feels good and what’s better than feeling good! 🙂
So, how do we invite in more gratitude in our lives? Inviting gratitude isn’t difficult but it is a daily practice. It will shift your focus from what your life lacks to the abundance that is already present.
Try these simple tips:
- Exercise your ‘gratitude muscle’: by keeping a gratitude journal. Everyday make a list of three to ten things for which you are grateful; you can do this first thing in the morning or before going to bed at night. If journal’s aren’t your thing at least think about this every morning before you get out of bed or at night before you go to sleep.
- Think yourself grateful: You really can determine how your life will turn out, based on your way of thinking. If you constantly look for bad things to happen, guess what? Bad things will most likely happen to you. But if you turn your thoughts to a more positive nature, and find the good in everything, you’ll soon become a happier person and live a much happier life.
- Remember bigger isn’t better: start finding joy in the small things instead of holding out for big achievements
- Set Intentions: Ask and you shall receive. The universe has an amazing way of giving us what we want when we are open to receiving it. So be sure to set an intention that is important to you and word it in a way that makes you feel good when you read it. Our only real job in this life is to feel good for as much of the time as possible, when we do this asking for what we want and getting it becomes very easy.
Warning: Practicing gratitude and doing the above exercises will have you feeling lighter, happier, more joyful, and automatically finding things to be grateful about ALL the time. Proceed at your own risk!
