How would you like to start your day off with a breakfast that melts away fat, curbs your cravings, increases your energy, takes under 5 minutes to make and is both nutritious and delicious? What’s that? A resounding “YES!” I figured as much.
But before I give away the big secret, I need you to understand why it is so important to start your day off with a healthy breakfast. First off, it is the body’s first chance to refuel its blood glucose levels. These levels serve as the body’s main source of energy and are required to fuel the muscles which are needed for daily activity.
Studies show that people who eat breakfast regularly have lower body mass index (BMI) then those who do not. A healthy start will allow you to make better choices throughout the day, curb your cravings and reduce overeating at night. Many people think it is the logical choice to skip breakfast and save a few calories. I see my weight loss clients using this tactic all the time. However, studies show that skipping breakfast is one of the biggest dieting mistakes people can make.
So, no more using the “I don’t have time – I’m rushing out the door” excuse, or playing the “I’m going to skip breakfast so I can lose weight” card, right?!! Breakfast is just too important to pass up. (Newsflash: Coffee does not count as a healthy breakfast).
Ok, so here’s my secret weapon for a fast, nutritious and delicious breakfast. Enter the GREEN SMOOTHIE!
Think of the green smoothie as healthy fast food (you can even make it the night before). It’s 2 cups of greens, 2 cups of fruit and 2 cups of water blended. Simple right?! Three things people don’t get enough of in their diet are greens, fruit and water. Start your day with a Green Smoothie and you are way ahead of the game.
Greens are incredibly nutritious, yet so many people don’t eat enough of them. Plus people complain that they are hard to digest, but by blending greens and thus “deconstructing” them you create a green that is more easily digested and just as nutritious. Green smoothies, as a posed to juices, are a complete food. This means they still contain fiber and that fiber helps aid digestion and proper elimination.
With a ratio of fruits to veggies of roughly 60:40 the fruit taste dominates the flavor, yet at the same time, the green vegetables balance out the sweetness of the fruit and add a robust zest to your smoothie. After a few weeks of drinking green smoothies you will experience an abundance of energy, fewer cravings for sugary or salty foods, balanced moods, and healthier looking skin, hair and nails. With such a simple, tasty solution… what are you waiting for!?
I promise there’s nothing NOT to love about a green smoothie. Here are a few recipes to get you started…if you want more follow me on facebook and twitter(@ Elementsoffit) or you can email me for a free consultation. firstname.lastname@example.org
